Figuring out whether your car needs a suspension repair or not can be tricky. This is why so many auto repair shops stress having a regular maintenance schedule for your vehicle. However, for those that can’t afford regular maintenance or simply don’t have the room in their schedule for such a thing, there are symptoms to keep in the back of your mind that can help along the way. Not only that but if you bring your vehicle to us, all of our work is grounded in a warranty that protects you and your best interests. Including your bank account. Not many auto repair shops around us can boast of that same thing. With ASE-certified professionals with years of experience beneath their belt and state-of-the-art facilities and machinery, you can rest assured that the job will get done right the first time. But, for those who have yet to meet us, our five-year/60,000-mile warranty is in place for all of our handiwork. Sometimes, you need more than proof. And that is why we provide a safety net for you anyway.
What Does A Bad Suspension Look Like?
It doesn’t look like anything, actually. If the check engine light hasn’t come on, that means the only thing you have at your disposal is how the car feels when in motion. Your vehicle’s suspension system has some of the hardest work thrust upon it. It not only provides you with a comfortable ride but a safe one as well. Its biggest task is keeping all four tires on the ground at all times and providing adequate braking power and stabilization should you find yourself in a position where they need to be slammed. So, when do you know there’s an issue with your suspension system? There are four main things to consider:
- If you stand and look at your car from the outside, make sure all four corners of your vehicle are level. If one of them is sinking lower than the rest, you have a suspension failure issue.
- If you press down on the hood of your car, it bounces. That’s normal. However, if you continuously press down on the hood and stop, but your car continues to bounce, your suspension system has been compromised. It shouldn’t freely bounce.
- If your anti-sway bar has failed, the gravity center of your car will shift. So, if you’re driving and it feels as if your car is about to roll over when you take a sharp turn, that’s one of the biggest red flags. Get your car to us immediately for diagnosis and repair.
- Using a flashlight to look at the shocks and struts beneath your vehicle, it could mean they are leaking if you see a wet substance of any sort. Leaking struts and shocks means an increasingly unstable ride requiring suspension system repairs.
If you are experiencing any of these issues, it’s imperative that you make an appointment with us immediately. A jarring car ride can lead to fatal accidents if a suspension system isn’t repaired when it starts to succumb to wear and tear over time. Let us help keep you safe on the road.
